Founded in 2001, Pump Audio is a new kind of agent for independent musicians, digitally connecting them with buyers in the mainstream media. With Pump Audio, artists can license their music into productions without giving up any ownership, while TV and advertising producers can discover new music ready for use.

With a growing catalog of tens of thousands of songs, all by independent artists from around the world, customers access music through Pump's innovative search software and delivery services, the Soundtrack Service online, and the PumpBox™, which is currently on the desktops of thousands of creative professionals worldwide.

Pump Audio is based in New York's Hudson Valley.

Having spent the 90's trying to make a living from music, and having gone through both independent and major labels, The Simpletons had run their course. Steve Ellis was the songwriter, Rob Tourtelot was the guitar player, Steve Askew was the producer and Bob Opatrny was the attorney. Time to find a way to pay the bills....

Chance meetings and the licensing of a Simpletons song into a commercial brought along an idea.

There's a lot of great indie music out there, and there's a lot of TV. Perhaps there's a way to make a living without having to wait around for salvation from labels. Perhaps there's a market that doesn't care if you are young or old, handsome or not.

Perhaps there's a market that just needs a lot of good music, in every style, all the time—a market that pays to use that music.
